I use the same card (although an NEC OEM one). You have to load the SCSI 
drivers and the Cardsoft drivers in your config.sys and autoexec.bat files 
before the drive can be recognized.

You should have received all of the required software with your card. If not, 
you can download them from Adaptec's web site:

http://www.adaptec.com/support/

or from their ftp:

ftp://ftp.adaptec.com/pub/BBS/
