Hi,
Anyone out there manage to open up a Tecra 500CDT?
my keyboard just stopped working properly. I push a key
and a bunch of garbage appears on the screen which
doesn't match the pushed key.

I tried an external keyboard (typing on it now actually)
and the external works just fine.

I figure either the internal keyboard cable has come
loose or the keyboard itself is ruined.

I would like to get into the system and check this out.
If not I guess of to Micro Solutions for repair.

Thanks in advance for any help.

William

William,
If the unit is still in warranty why not send it to CSS laptop service
center? They are ranked number one for service. 610-872-8800. If you take it
out your self, you are voiding the warranty, and from what you wrote in the
NG. It sounds like a typical faulty keyboard unit.  There are four screws
under the battery that lift up the front cover and the keyboard pops out
easily from ther. But i would send it to CSS.

John

John,
Thanks for the info!
Being the every so curious engineer that I am I had to open it up.
The keyboard cable is attached properly so it looks like it is the
keyboard which needs replacing. The warranty expired some time
ago but I will send it in to be repaired.

The Satellite 4090XDVD is beginning to look more and more tempting.

Thanks again!

William
