README.TXT for Crystal Sound System Win95 driver disk 06-24-96 CDC Installation: To install the Crystal drivers, run the SETUP program on the Crystal diskette, then restart your system when prompted to do so. Windows 95 may default the Crystal Semiconductor CS4232 sound chip in the 710 and 720 to IRQ5 when the drivers are reinstalled. This causes a conflict with the IrDA port, also on IRQ5. In Win95 Device Manager, there is an exclamation mark on the "Crystal PnP Audio System CODEC". After installing the Crystal drivers, use Win95 Device Manager and do the following: o Click the "+" next to Sound Video and Game Controllers to expand that branch (if not already expanded) o Double click the entry for: "Crystal PnP Audio System CODEC" to open its properties o Click on the "Resources" tab o Click on "Set configuration Manually" o Click to remove the checkmark from "Use Automatic Settings" o Click on "Interrupt Request" o Click on "Change settings" o Change the setting from "05" to "09" o Click OK to close the IRQ setting dialog o Click OK to close the "Crystal PnP Audio System CODEC" Properties dialog o A warning message is displayed. Click OK (you may see the screen go blank for a couple of seconds) Device Manager collapses the "Sound, video..." branch of the hardware tree o Close Device Manager Other information: The joystick device (that is present in the preinstall) disappears until you attach a DeskStation V Plus or Enhanced Port Replicator that has a joystick port on it.
