How to add optical digital output to Hardware CineMaster C

For use with Hardware CineMaster C 1.2E.

Introduction

Note! This modification is only for the advanced user. You will void your warranty and you can damage your card.

The modification will enable optical digital output from the Hardware CineMaster card.
This has only been tested on Hardware CineMaster C revision 1.2E, but might also work for other revisions.

Part List

• U8 TOTX 173 optical transmitter
• R23 1k Ohm 1/8 Watt SMD resistor
• R24 8.2k Ohm 1/8 Watt SMD resistor

Instructions

1. Remove the slot holder from the PCB
2. Add U8 and R24 on the upper side of the PCB.
   See image below (click to enlarge):
   
3. Add R23 on the lower side of the PCB.
   See image below (click to enlarge):
   
4. Insert a new hole in the slot holder.
   See image below (click to enlarge):
   
5. Mount the slot holder on the PCB.
