How to install the internal VMI cable

Version 1.0 - March 16, 2000

For use with Hardware CineMaster C

The Hardware CineMaster C decoder card uses an internal VMI cable to transfer video data from the decoder to the video card. Most video cards have a VMI port.

The VMI 1.4 cable is a 26 pin ribbon cable that connects to the Video Overlay Port header on the card.

Many other hardware decoder cards uses an external VGA passthrough cable resulting in a less clear video image on the monitor. This method can also degrade the VGA image (the desktop).

Decoder Cabling Instructions
Take the supplied video VMI cable, and connect it from the CineMaster VMI video port to the video card VMI video port as follows:

  1. Connect one end to the CineMaster decoder card so that that the red line (pin 1) of the cable goes to pin 1 on the decoder card (closest to the external connectors i.e. back of your PC).
  2. Connect the other end to the video card so that the red line (pin 1) of the cable goes to pin 1 on the video card. Pin 1 should be labeled on the video card or will be specified in the documentation that came with your system.

If you don't have a VMI cable
A standard floppy cable or IDE cable might work if you cut off the extra pins.
