If our friend here spent $50,000, sure it would do some good, but not nearly as much as requiring everyone of means to do a little to help the less fortunate."Helping the less fortunate" is not equivalent to "giving money to those who squander what is given to them and do nothing but demand more handouts". The former is noble, the latter is regarded a crime in every place except when the government does it.
