An alternate approach is to buy (yes, I said buy) some drivers from 4-Front at http://www.opensound.com. They have a real-time software mixer that works with ALL chipsets. Latency is nonexistent, as far as I can tell.So does ALSA. Check out the "dmix" plugin. It requires a fairly beefy CPU though (P150 or better).
