driver to make trackpoint look like a joystick?

Its probably a silly request, but I'd really like to
use the trackpoint as a joystick. Its pressure
sensitive, just like joysticks on modern fighter
aircraft. However, using it mouse-mode in
flight simulator is an exercise in frustration.

Is it possible to write a drive that reads the
trackpoint interface and pretends to be a
an analog joystick?

Barring that, is there any way to use analog
joystics with a laptop? (Something like a
game card with a paralell connection and
appropriate software?)

Why you might ask? Some games like TIE fighter
insist on a joystick. I'm one of those strange
people who would like to play TIE fighter (and
other games) on a laptop.

Thanks for any info
