  Just a general comment on these PS2 mouse ports.  I recently had
  a bad experience w/ a Toshiba6400 portable.  I blew out the PS2
  port by plugging and unplugging the mouse while the power was
  on (at least that's what the repair technician said).  Toshiba even
  prepared for this case because the PS2 port was on a separate
  card from the motherboard.
  I don't know whether Thinkpads are as sensitive, but I probably
  won't ever buy a Toshiba because of this experience :-)
