RAM Upgrade for TP750

Hi

I'm new to the list.  Have been using a Thinkpad 750Cs with 4MB RAM and 
340MB HD for almost a year.

Would like to know if anyone has upgraded with a RAM module from non-IBM 
suppliers.  If so, are there any problems that one should take note of ?
 
The price difference between IBM and a mail-order company I've contacted 
for a 8MB upgrade is about $100.00.    
Would appreciate suggestions for reliable mail order companies and also 
whether a 16MB upgrade would be better.
