Xircom update (CEM10BT)
It seems that Xircom has, thankfully, decided to do away with their
proprietary MAPI interface in their Ethernet + Modem card and rewrote the
firmware where the card now basically emulates a UART like a Megahertz
modem card. This also means they did away with their horrendous redirector
that was needed to get the card up and running. The good news is that the
modem seems to work flawlessly in DOS and Windows. The bad news is it is
still impossible to get the Ethernet side of the equation working. I
upgraded the card on a friend's Aero to 2.15 (The newest driver level), and
suddenly <g>, my 755C had no problems recognizing the card at last. Xircom
has an update bulletin pertaining to this card you can also have faxed back
to you. Of course in the memo, Xircom says they are still having problems
with Card and Services (You have to disable them to get the card to work as
of this moment), and problems still persist with a few models of the 755
and 360 Thinkpads.
