MWO110-2.EXE MWave version 1.10 for OS/2 and Warp - disk 2 of 2
MWOS2AUD.EXE MWave Audio Drivers for OS/2 2.1 and 2.11 (not Warp) (MMPM)
MWWRPAUD.EXE MWave Audio Drivers for Warp (no earlier versions ofOS/2) (VSD)
TPMWHPFS.EXE Patch to allow MWave 1.10 upgrade on HPFS systems.
FWVTB421.EXE FaxWorks Voice! ver. 3.00f.042 disk 1 of 2
FWVTB422.EXE FaxWorks Voice! ver. 3.00f.042 disk 2 of 2
If you have a DOS/windows system and you have the original MWave version 1.00
disks for windows (7 disks) you only need to download the two MWave for DOS
disks, the first two MWave for windows disks and the two FaxWorks Voice! disks
to upgrade to MWave 1.10 (note that it doesn't matter which version you have
installed currently, 1.00 or 1.02). When performing the windows upgrade you
will be instructed to insert the third disk for windows - just use disk 3 from
the version 1.00 set. You do not have to update the WAV samples since there
haven't been any changes since version 1.00.
If you have a DOS/windows system and you don't have the original MWave version
1.00 disks but you do have the MWave code installed and running then you will
need the two MWave for DOS disks, the first three MWave for windows disks and
the two FaxWorks Voice! disks to upgrade to MWave 1.10.
Please ensure all DOS upgrades are performed prior to the Windows upgrades in
the above situations.
If you have OS/2 2.1 or 2.11 you will need the two MWave for OS/2 and Warp disks
and the MWave Audio Drivers for OS/2 disk (note that this last disk is the same
as the third MWave for OS/2 disk that was in the preloaded diskette factory, so
if you already have that disk created you won't need to download this file).
You will also need the file TPMWHPFS.EXE file if you have OS/2 installed on an
HPFS file system. You will also need various DOS, windows and FaxWorks Voice!
disks as outlined above.
If you have Warp you will need the two MWave for OS/2 and Warp disks and the
MWave Audio Drivers for Warp disk. You will also need the file TPMWHPFS.EXE
file if you have Warp installed on an HPFS file system. You will also need
various DOS, windows and FaxWorks Voice! disks as outlined above.
What These Diskettes Do
-----------------------
These Mwave Feature Service diskettes update the Mwave System programs
stored on the hard drive of ThinkPad models 755CE/CD/CSE.
If you are experiencing any of the problems listed in the following
Summary of Problem Fixes section or wish to use any of the new functions
listed in the following Summary of New Function Supported section,
please follow the instructions given in the Updating Feature Programs
section below to update the Mwave feature program of your ThinkPad 755
family computer.
Summary of New Function Supported
---------------------------------
The following functions that were not part of the Mwave support (version 1.0)
as delivered on 755CD, 755CE, and 755CSE ThinkPads are included in this
new version. (Some of these functions were previously made available as
downloadable files on the PC Company Bulletin Board System (BBS) as well
as on other electronic bulletin boards.)

OS/2 Warp Support
High Quality MIDI Synthesizer Support for OS/2 Warp
Release Version
---------------
Version 1.10 Function upgrade and corrective service to support
the Mwave component of ThinkPad 755CD, 755CE, and
755CSE. This version replaces and supersedes all
previous versions of Mwave software for 755CD,
755CE, and 755CSE ThinkPads.

Summary of Problem Fixes for ThinkPad 755CD/CE/CSD
--------------------------------------------------
NOTE: These feature diskettes include previously available fixes in
addition to the 1.10 updates.
Reduced the occurrence of "Out of Memory" problems in Windows
SYMPTOM: When running certain applications in Windows, an out of
memory message appeared. This problem was caused by the amount of
memory the various Mwave software components were reserving (locking)
and by the way Windows handles that locking function.
FIX: Changes were made to reduce the amount of locked memory the Mwave
software requires. (This fix was previously available from the PCC
BBS as TPW102_1.EXE and TPW102_2.EXE.)
AT &W0 &W1 modem command fixed
SYMPTOM: Write configuration fails when trying to save both
configurations with one AT command. If &W0 & &W1 are used on
one AT command line, only the last one actually works.
FIX: Updates to code. (This fix was previously available from
the PCC BBS as TPW102_1.EXE and TPW102_2.EXE.)
Cannot successfully use the Mwave Modem with Remote Access
SYMPTOM: When attempting to use the Mwave Modem with Windows for
Work Groups' Remote Access System (RAS) the connect result message
was not properly recognized.
FIX: MODEM.INF was modified.
Communication applications unable to find or communicate with Mwave Modem
SYMPTOM: Because of the nature of the Mwave Modem, the
Windows virtual COM driver didn't find the modem active
when starting Windows.
FIX: IBMVCD.386 provided a temporary fix for this problem.
The Mwave code has been altered and the requirement for
IBMVCD.386 no longer exists.
Improved speaker phone quality
SYMPTOM: Speakerphone volume is too low on certain telephone
lines (for example, Japanese lines). When the speaker volume
is increased, the microphone gain would decrease.
FIX: Microphone gain adjusted to not decrease as speaker volume
increases. Some applications (such as FaxWorks) enable the user
to adjust the microphone gain manually.
Fixed FAX machine incompatibility
SYMPTOM: Often seen as a "FAX back" problem, an incompatibility
between the Mwave FAX modem and certain FAX machines (or FAX
modems) existed.
FIX: Mwave code has been updated and known incompatibilities are
now resolved.
NOTE: There is known problem when Mwave is answering as a
FAX modem and the calling FAX machine supports v.33 protocol.
If the Mwave modem negotiates at 14,400 bps, it erroneously
reports successful negotiation even though it does not support
the V.33 protocol. As a work-around for this problem you can
set the maximum fax speed to 9600 bps in the fax application,
and initiate the fax back service again. The Mwave modem should now
negotiate V.29 for 9600 bps and successfully receive the fax.
Removed the click sound heard when recording
SYMPTOM: When using any application to record WAV files, a
clicking sound is audible at the beginning or end of the
recording.
FIX: The audio driver has been updated.
Fixed the incompatibility of DOS communications applications
with the Mwave COM setup
SYMPTOM: Some DOS communications applications are unable to
access the COM ports because of incompatibility with the Mwave
COM setup.
FIX: COM setup was updated to fix incompatibility.
Improved the modem to v.32bis rate renegotiation
SYMPTOM: When the quality of a connection on the phoneline
decreases (often recognized by the presence of noise), modems
renegotiate to lower speeds for data transfer. The Mwave modem
renegotiation was taking too long and sometimes causing the
connection to be lost.
FIX: Mwave modem performance for renegotiation has been improved.
Improved modem performance
SYMPTOM: Modem data transfer rates were slow when compared to more
conventional modems.
FIX: Modem performance has been improved, however, with older
character mode protocols lower throughput data transfer will be
experienced. If one of these protocols, such as XMODEM, must be
used, some improvement may be achieved by turning off data
compression before establishing the modem connection (by using
the AT \N0 "H2 commands).
Updating Feature Programs
-------------------------

the system program.
- If your computer is attached to a ThinkPad Dock I or a port
