more probs with installing linux

more probs :)
my sytem:
tp755Cs with 20 megs of ram and 720 or something hdd
i'm using tp-bare.gz and color144.gz

when I boot with tp-bare, i get the usual "boot:"
and I entered

ramdisk hd=699,32,63 floppy=thinkpad
ramdisk hd=699,32,63
floppy=thinkpad
and no params

none of the above seem to work.

then i switch to rootdisk when "Uncompressing Linux...." appears
I get the "slackware login" and I log on as root

but when I enter "fdisk"
i get a "Unable to read /dev/hda"

i have 100M for dos and that's it
the rest if just free space

I can't get the fdisk to run so that i can create linux partitions

any pointers would be appreciated.

btw, i've check all the www pages for linux on thinkpad, but i still
can't get it to work.
