IDE drive on 755CX
I have just ordered an IBM 755CX. Because I would like to install NeXTStep
(an OS), with the new NS drivers (at www.next.com) that support 800*600, I
need to find a convenient way to install the OS. I have read the FAQ, but it
lacks answers in the appropriate sections.
The best way would be if I could connect harddisk to a DELL desktop.
Optimally, I would like to insert the Thinkpad caddy with the HD into some
receptacle, and have it recognized as a second IDE drive. Does anyone
produce such a device? (Note: it need not look pretty; this is only for
occasional connections.)
If this does not exist, is the 755CX disk a standard 2.5" device that can be
connected (using the cabling sold by some mail-order vendors), when opened
up and removed from the caddy. Is this difficult? Can it be done and
returned appropriately, so that the warranty is not spoiled?
Help appreciated. (I will post my experience with NeXTStep once it is done.)
