ah !  i didnt do the slave thing.  but it was a fat drive anyhow (ie - 
would not fit into the thin slot on the front of the dock II).

so i had to put it in the back area (lots of space), but the short
ide cable didnt reach, so it was a pain to squirm it in, which i
did, but i have subsequently pulled it out.  

no luck getting a SMC Elite 16 combo to slot into the dock station
and get it recognized by windows 95.  spent a lot of time configuring
the elite 16 thru software, but the device manager would not 
recognize it.

anyone get an ethernet card into the dock II and make it work ?
