IDE vs. SCSI PCMCIA

I'm considering a cdrom drive with an IDE pcmcia connection for my
ThinkPad.  Can someone comment on how the speed would compare to an
arrangement using a SCSI pcmcia adapter, say the Adaptec 1460?
