1) The 750's external serial port uses a 16450 UART.  By my tests
   it needed ~40% of the CPU's time to maintain a 9600bps connection
   under OS/2 2.0.

2) The DOS FUELDOS utility was notorious for causing unreliable serial
   comms on the 750.  It doesn't have to be displaying anything, it just
   has to be loaded in memory (this may happen even if you run Win3.1)
   to mess things up.
