I keep reading about IBM fixing dropped thinkpads for free! Why is ours
costing money? (Not that we really care about a few hundred dollars,
nor do I think we should waste time on it.)

| I can't vouch for these folks, but they are the only third-pary laptop
| repair oufit I am aware of. They might be able to help you, especially
| since they have surface mount gear, and would be able to replace individual
| ICs and such, rather than board level components. Fortunately, my brother's
| 360ce, (formerly mine), went haywire (after having been dropped on an icy
| sidewalk), when it was out of warranty by a couple of months. IBM fixed it
| completely without complaint, (and gave him a brand new warranty too!).
