FWIW, I've used 1.2.11, 1.2.13, and 1.3.95 and never had a problem --
I just configure for PS/2 support and it all works magically. Same with
the pcmcia stuff -- never had a problem. I'm on a 755CX.

PS: I just came up with a way to get a real console under 600x800 mode.
You still have to use mode3x from DOS and boot via loadlin, but a small
patch to the kernel and one command in rc.local and you have a beautiful
100x37 full-screen console. If anyone's interested, let me know.  Probably
requires something close to 1.3.x -- if you have
src/linux/arch/i386/boot/video.s, it should be OK.
