Shipping a Pad

I need to ship my ThinkPad 755CX ahead of me and then back during a business 
trip. 

Can anyone share their experience in doing this?  I'm trying to decide if 
using the original box would be better than keeping it in my official ThinkPad 
backpack and packing that carefully.
