Its not just the 701 that suffers battery problems. We support about
all types of ThinkPad from 300 series onwards. We have had many reports
from users about dud batteries. Even swapping with known good batteries
does not seem to solve the problem with many of these ThinkPads. The
answer seems to be to return the ThinkPad to IBM if it is still under
warranty.
On many an occasion, IBM have denied there being a problem, yet it
magically seems to be fixed when the system is return. From experience
the problems seem to be 50/50 between battery and ThinkPad problems.
