Linux of the 701

Hello,

I have a TP701c DX4/75 24/540 running Win95. I just installed RedHat 3.0.3
Linux, and have some questions. I'm a total newbie in UNiX, so pardon my
ignorance. The installation went pretty smoothly. When I got to the part
where I had to specify options for MetroX (commercial X-server that ships
with RedHat), things got a little confusing. There was no preset option for
my laptop screen, so I chose Generic 640x480 13". There were two edit boxes
to enter the width and the height of the display, but I didn't do it at
first. When I started X, everything on the screen looked to big (the
Control Panel, xclock, window title bars, etc.) I tried reinstalling, and
this time specify the physicall dimensions of the screen, but that didn't
seem to help. I also tried to use XF86 server, and use the settings I got
from the Linux Laptop page, but couldn't start X at all (at least I learned
how to use vi a little ;-)) If somebody is running MetroX, or has
XF86config for TP701c, I'd appreciate some help. What's the deal with
MetroX? Is it any better than XFree86? Also, I installed LILO, and it would
display LI at startup and nothing else would happen. Adding 'linear' as the
first line in lilo.conf didn't seem to change anything. Thanks for any
help.
