I don't know, but you could use "probe" from Dave Hinds' pcmcia package for Linux to find out. On my 701C, it says the controller is Cirrus CL-PD672x. The package seems to install as for i82365 and it works fine. Red Hat Linux includes the pcmcia package. It is even incorporated into the installation routine with auto-detection to allow Linux installation from a pcmcia cdrom. Presuming that a mainstream machine probably wouldn't be weird, I would go ahead and try it. The latest Linux pcmcia package is at hyper.stanford.edu. It's a great package with frequent updates and good support. I'm very pleased. Hope this helps. Duff McRoberts rdm@csn.net
