Re: External CD-ROM Recommendations?

Hi,
I have the Panasonic KXL-D740 hooked up to my 701C through the PCMCIA card
supplied with the drive. Its a 4X drive, and so far has run everything I
needed just fine. I went this route as opposed to the parallel port
machines because I thought it would have faster thru-put. Not sure if
this is true however, since I have no parallel drive to check out.
Also, this drive can run off batteries, and if you unplug the cord from
the card and leave the card in all
the time like me, it is pretty convient to use. Just unwrap the skinny
connection cord and plug it in.
I am running win95, and used this drive to install this, along with office
and some other programs, plus the occasional game of C & C.

Only problem I have had is that the disk spins all the time once I access it.
The simple solution to this is to open the lid when I am done and then
close it again.
The other thing is the drive is about $380 dollars, so you might want to
consider whether a 2x would do, depending on how much you use it.
