RE: External CD-ROM Recommendations?

I've just bought a SCSI-2 2x CD-ROM drive from ... www.sunrem.com -
I've also got a SCSI card on order from another supplier, so I haven't
been able to test it yet. It cost $149 - plus $52 shipping to Europe,
which I think means they're not really trying re. shipping (other companies
manage about $25). Still, inside the US it seems particularly attractive.
The drive is targetted at Macs (it only has a Mac disk supplied) and the
US (US power supply). For a standard SCSI connector you have to
connect an ungainly battery box (supplied) to the drive, but it still ranks as
pretty lightweight.

I like the idea of a SCSI drive (to popular PCMCIA SCSI card) because
I want to be able to drive it and other SCSI devices from Linux. A parallel
port attached drive may not be so flexible.

cheers,

Andrew Richards.

Subject: External CD-ROM Recommendations?

Hello all -

Does anyone here have a recommendation for an external
CD-ROM for a 701? How does the performance compare
for one that uses a PCMCIA interface as opposed to
an EPP one?

Thanks!
