I use the IBM installed Windows 95 DUN to access my NETCOM account
for Internet activities. My Thinkpad 760ED works superbly for
Web browsing with Netscape Navigator 3.0, puting me in touch with
financial info, including Barron's Weekly, available on Saturday
mornings, the Wall Street Journal, PC Quotes, etc.
My problem is that if I leave the unit unattended for more than about two
minutes, it automatically drops the line connection. Many times a
following re-dial results in busy signals and lots of frustration.
Is there a way to keep the Windows 95 DUN from automatically dropping
an inactive connection, for say 10 minutes? Is this a problem unique
to the Thinkpad Windows 95 installations? Additionally, I just got
the unit back from IBM's EasyServ facility, and note they have
updated the DSP for reasons of "problems with modem connection"; a nice
jesture, but I had sent the unit in to fix the low level audio,
another problem altogether that itself persists! Does this group
maintain an index of problems and solutions by Thinkpad model? Maybe
someone knows about the audio, too?
Thanks,
