755 CDV and Win95 - revisited
OK - I finally got the OS up and running, and have downloaded so much
stuff I want a new HD for my desktop!!
However, it's still kinda not working. I've loaded the whole shooting
match from IBM - Utilities, Mwave, IR, BIOS, etc. What I'm getting is
a message in Windows after boot that says the APM Driver is not
loaded, which MIGHT cause system problems, including mouse failure
after suspend / resume. You say OK to that, and it tells me to exit
Windows and use the SETUP command in the WINDOWS subdirectory to
select "MS-DOS system with APM" as the computer type.
Let me tell you how I got 95 to finally run on here - maybe this will
clue someone else in. I could not get the CD to run in the TP, so I
formatted the whole thing (I kinda wanted to do that anyhow -
previous user had lots of WFW stuff lying all over) with MS-DOS 6.22.
Then I used laplink to copy the contents of the CD to a directory on
the hard drive. Had to install MS-DOS mouse drivers and WFW again,
but then the setup went. Finally, I did all the TP upgrades, as I
stated above.
I'm supposed to ship this darn thing out today (I love exciteable
users...) so if anyone has any idea, I'd love to hear 'em!!
I'm gonna try to let the phone sit for a minute so I can call IBM and
ask them, but I've not had much luck getting good ideas when I do
complicated stuff like this. Thanks in advance for any replies!!
