Win95 on a 750P

I need some help. I've told you in excruciating detail what I've done.

After suspending Win95 on my ThinkPad750, any keypress freezes the machine
for several seconds, and the keypress is discarded. The keyboard is worse
than useless. 

I've tried to update the BIOS from 1.20 to 1.40, but the System Disk BIOS
updater says I don't need to (and the change log says that there have been
no changes for the 750 since 1.20). 

How do I fix this?
