This would best be done as a device driver, although I don't know PCs well enough to say exactly how. I can do this on my PDP-11s with a driver that's supplied with the operating system though. It works ok up to 19.2kb but then the CPU only has an 18 MHz clock too. I'd expect the typical Thinkpad would do better as they are much faster. Billy Y..
