I've installed previous OS/2 versions and they all required the first 3 
floppies from the CD-ROM version. I ordered the external floppy 
attachment for my 760ELD at about the same time you did and it just 
arrived 2 weeks ago so hang in there ;-)...

I think you could actually create floppies from the CD-ROM and use those 
to install OS/2, at least prior to 4.0.
