Reformat of a 701C

Well after a smooth transition to 95 my registry began to develop troubles
and after a frustrating attempts to recover the registry unsuccessfully I
striped down the drive and reloaded DOS 6.0, Win 3.0 and then again 95.
No other IBM software was reinstalled.
Current bios is the latest issue.

The only damage that I've noted is the 16 color palate and can't get 256
restored. The monitor has a slight flicker on start up but no color degradation

I'd appreciate the tactics to "fix" the display setting problem.
Under system device manager it shows an "unknown monitor".
Their are the choices listed of Chips & tech accelerator and Chips Super VGA
and two others under properties for the monitor in the Display Properties.

Will other performance issues rise up or will the system remain stable?
How do I recover the monitor issue?

Your suggestions are appreciated.
