> I was wondering what operating system or software you > are using to test IR port. > > Thanks, > Mitchell i'm using windows95. as far as i recall, it recognized the IR-port even without any specific drivers. now, i'm using a bunch of updates from microsoft. i'm not quite sure which of these are actually active; i think it's IRDA 2.0.... i also have the IR_Networking driver installed, but it is always crossed out in the device manager; maybe it conflicts with the IRDA, i don't know. the drivers are on microsoft's web-site. what happens: i put the thinkpad in front of the printer, go into ControlPanel, and open the IR-Control Panel. this starts a polling of the IR-port. with the printer there, win95 detects new hardware/printer, and asks to install it. since i don't have the install files on my hard drive, i used the installed HP LaserJet III drivers. win95 asks to print a test page, and lo and behold, "the IR beams from my thinkpad are bundled by the printer's lens and burn the image on the paper". btw, does anyone know if WinNT supports IR, and where to get a _cheap_ serial-port (or ethernet) IR-port? axel "Very funny, Scotty.
