In defense of the dongle camp:
I have had three Xjacks and two had problems. I had a Hayes Xjack and
it would no longer stay in. I returned it for another that worked fine
till I sold it. Then I beta tested a MHz 33.6 Xjack model that got the
head of a phone cord stuck in it. After trying to get it out normally,
I had to really yank on it which bent the pins. MHz recognized it was a
problem and replaced it. In their defense they said newer models had a
solution for the problem.
Another nit about the Xjacks:
Because of the orientation of the cable it interferes with some other
PCMCIA cards I use. I like to use two cards at one time.
Like I said "different strokes for different folks." I have no interest
in igniting something akin to the OS wars, I just don't prefer the
Xjacks. After getting my MHz model after the Beta test for free, I sold
it and bought a dongle version.
