New member intro

Hello,

As a new member of this mailing list I guess I should introduce myself.
My name is Gregory Fedor. I am a computer engineer and have recently bought
a used ThinkPad 750C. It has 20 MB RAM and a 1.2 GB drive. I also received
the port replicator II. I'm currently running Win95 on it and am mostly
using it for school work (I'm going back for my MS), although it's been
pressed into work work lately simply for convienience. I use it as a
suppliment to my work desktop PC (currently a 486/33, soon to be upgraded to
a P166 perhaps) and my home desktop PC (a P100). At first I thought I'd be
disappointed with the slower processor, but for basic word processing,
spreadsheet stuff, and simple programming it's turning out to be quite
versatile.

At present it has no modem and I've been tempted to pickup a PC card
modem, but then I think I'd be surfing the net more than I should, so I'm
fighting the tempation. I would like to get a second power supply so I can
use it with the port replicator at work which would also give me a direct
connect to my desktop PC.

It came in very good shape except for a broken lid latch on the left
side. I'm tempted to get it fixed, but I'm afraid 1) I don't know where to
take it or where to get the part, and 2) I'm not sure it's worth it.

One question I have for the group is this. I've heard things mentioned
about how the floppy drive on some ThinkPads is a 2.88 MB one. How can I
tell if mine is, and if so is it worth using that way and how?

Thanks
Gregory
