I've tried SDD 5.3 and 5.2 on my 701C, but they also caused my machine to
lock during the detection phase. I can verify that SDD 5.3 works fine on my
760ED though.
My 701C also has the latest BIOS and video drivers installed.
It also seems that some of the Display Doctor upgrades are more
'downgrades' for some machines. I was using a Zenith Z-STAR EX laptop that
worked fine with SDD 5.2, but would lock up with 5.3. Go figure.
Just a note on Quake-my 760ED will not allow a higher resolution than
320x400(?) with Quake. But I would suggest that anyone wanting to play a
game such as this with a higher resolution should use a dedicated 3D card
to play it with an acceptable frame rate.
Just my $.02
