I would expect that they will fix it, but note that OSR2 is an OEM service release: officially, it is only available for resale by OEMs preinstalled on new machines. Theoretically, OSR2 should not be available on ThinkPads until IBM starts to preload it, and accordingly, they don't need to rush to add support for it. Of course, some or all of the functionality of OSR2 might find its way into a Service Pack at some point, too.
