It costs US$600 retail.  However there are competitve upgrades available
for around US$150.  I use v2.5.1 Client (server costs much more...) with
latest service (from Sun web site).  It comes on multiple CD's, installs
via a kicker disk and then a boot from CD.  It understands PCMCIA but is
somewhat limited in supported devices.  You can check and/or download the
compatibility list from the Sun web site.  Blows SCO away and is easier
than LINUX to install and configure.  LINUX tends to support more devices
more quickly but Solaris is infinitely more stable.

A couple of questions from a frustrated SCO UNIX and LINUX user:

o  What did Solaris X86 cost?  What version do you use?

o  What was the loading procedure?  Does it understand PCMCIA,
   Adaptec SlimSCSI adaptor?  Did it come on a CDROM?
