Assuming it works otherwise, it's most likely either this or the disk drive itself. The manual also suggest reseating the connector, which if it'd been plugged in for any length of time would burnish whatever crud and/or oxidation that might have accumulated on the contacts. Maybe this is a drive select jumper setting problem (just guessing)..? You may need the latest BIOS - I remember seeing some note in with it about a 2.1 gig fix (only change listed from the last version). I have a 755CE - there are also the 755C, 755Cs and 755CD which may use a different BIOS (don't know). Anyway no matter which it's available from ftp.pc.ibm.com in the pub/pccbbs/mobiles dir - get the file named 0listing.txt first - it is descriptions of everything available. Billy Y..
