I use a case called a "DoubleCase" (TM). I ran across it several years ago
at Comdex. The company was located in Colorado (I think).
The cases come in several sizes; I got the smallest which fits my 755C
snuggly. It has a hard outer shell which is some kind of plastic polymer
which is virtually indestructible in use. The inside has foam cube inserts
which can be easily cut out to conform to the size of the equipment being
stored.
It's about the size of a small typewriter case. Since my computer takes up
most of the room inside the case, I also got another DoubleCase product
called a "saddle-bag" which fits over the computer case quite a bit like
saddle bags on a horse. I can carry my AC adapter, battery, surge
suppressor, telephone cord, etc in the saddle-bag with room for several
other incidentals.
I've always felt my computer safe in this case, and I've never have had any
damage. But I must admit I've never had any really bad accident
(drop-kicked down a flight of stairs or worse); mostly just being slung
around a car, or falls from a coffee table.
I've been very pleased. The cases were a little pricey, but I got a good
deal at Comdex (both for about $100-150 total - I've forgotten).
