I have a dedicated machine connected to the net at home that died last month. I replaced it with my girlfriend's TP701C until I could afford and configure a new machine. It has been running day and night for 1.5 month without a hiccup. Standby is disabled and APS is enabled only for the screen. The funny thing is that it doesn't seem to produce heat. So I would say it doesn't seem to hurt, at least based on my (short) experience.
