I opted for the 365X (with internal fd) and bought a Panasonic external cd
drive.
This configuration works well for me because I use disks more often (back
up, file transfers)
and have the cd drive stored at home for installations when I need it. I have no
need to cart a cd player on the road.
The fd is not removeable, therefore not swappable with anything. I bought
the cd player
from PC Connection rather than buying an IBM one because of the prices were
better.
I have had no problem with the external cd player.
Good luck with your decision,
