If they are not part of the problem you want fixed then yes,
definitely.  You will get an inventory list to fill out on
which you can list exactly what is being sent in too.  When
I sent mine in for a keyboard repair I took everything that
is removable out - hard disk, battery, floppy disk, etc.  I
figured why take unnecessary chances..  I would not ship it
with the battery installed inside in any case - it's pretty
heavy compared to the rest of the Thinkpad, but I imagine if
you had a dead battery you'd just have to return it by itself.
