Another dead 701 (was: EasyServe repairs (plus a kudos)
As some of you know, I lost use of my 701 for 2 months recently
(December, January, part of February) while EZserve fumbled around
trying to fix the machine. They finally gave up and sent me a
(remanufactured) replacement, which I've now had for a few weeks. Well,
this morning the video went haywire on the new machine (the screen is
full of interference - jerking around, etc -even while displaying the
memory test on bootup). So, now I get to start this whole process
again:-(
So, to Mike who is impressed with EZ-serve: I had the same reaction last
August, when they rapidly fixed a video problem. Based on that (and
some of my wife's experiences with an Aptiva and 2 TP360s) I used to use
words like 'fabulous' when referring to IBM customer service and
EZ-serve. I've now learned better: when they're good they're great,
when they're not good they're abysmal. (I'm *very* lucky to have a
second laptop, a new Micron, to fall back on; I'd be talking to a lawyer
at this point had the machine been irreplaceable.)
