Cloning/Upgrading Hard Drives - How to -

My mailbox overfloweth !!!! from my post of a few days ago on the above
subject. I never expected such a response.

Due to the large number of requests, (over 75) I've decided to send it to
the list.

Sorry if this offends anyone.

Upgrading ThinkPad 750, 755 with no 2nd hard drive capability

1.	Back up old hard drive (for insurance)

2.	Create a Win95 bootable floppy disk,

3.	Add FDISK, FORMAT to the bootable disk

4.	Put new hard drive into 2nd computer

5.	Make new hard drive bootable using bootable floppy

6.	On the old computer backup the long file names using

DOSLFNBK C:\ (obtain from www.windows95.com, etc)

7.	Install LapLink on both computers (if necessary)

8.	Connect both computers with the LapLink cables

9.	Set LapLink options as

		include lower level subdirectories
		show hidden/system files….VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!
		apply options to both windows

10.	Copy ALL files over to the new hard drive. Pay particular
attention to IBMDOS, etc files. Copy as needed

11.	Restore long file names on the new hard drive using

		DOSLFNBK C:\ /R

12. The last step will restore the new hard drive to an exact
likeness of the first hard drive.

That's it!!!

Good Luck to all

Any questions, please e-mail or phone me.

Hugh
