I am a 365XD owner - before this I had a 360C. To tell you the truth, I have
never looked at any other manufacturers other than IBM when it comes to laptops.
I find that they are the best made (feel, look, components) compared to others.
I also know that when it comes to service they are (usually) second to none. I
am more than happy to pay a little extra to get that piece of mind.
One other thing - remember that a TFT vs. DSTN makes a considerable
difference between machines in both cost and quality of screen. I would never
go back to a DSTN.

Subject: IBM Thinkpad 365XD vs NEC Versa 2630CD
Opinions on the better buy? I own a 365XD, but am
having a tough time
recommending it versus the NEC.
The specs:
IBM 365XD, Pentium 133 MHz, 8/40MB, 1.35 GB, Trackpoint, external
floppy, internal 6x CD, 11.3 TFT, sound, 16-bit mono sound, 1 year IBM
warranty, $C 3600
NEC Versa 2630CD, Pentium 133 MHz, 16/48MB, 1.44 GB, Touchpad, internal
floppy, internal 10x CD, 12.1 DSTN, 2 MB video RAM, 16-bit stereo
sound, 1 year NEC warranty, $C 3300.
I am starting to question why I bought IBM (didn't know about the NEC at
the time). Is there anything I'm overlooking with the IBM?
