Some time back I upgraded my desktop machine from a Dx2-66 to an AMD586-133. I did extensive benchmarking both before and after, and would be willing to post my results if anyone is interested. (While my desktop and the 701 are somewhet different, they have enough systemic similarities - similar video and HD speed, same memory, same lack of L2 cache - that some* conclusions could be drawn.) Anyway, let me know if I should usurp valuable bandwidth with a posting. - David
