Status: Linux install on 701C

All-
Thank you all for your help to-date. Thought I'd mention the
highlights/lowlights of my recent Linux install. As you will see I still
have more to go (and learn).

I started with Redhat 4.1 . Seemed like a nice package that mentioned PCMCIA
SCSI in the install sequence (manual). Looked like a piece of cake......it
wasn't, of course. When using the floppies provided, PCMCIA devices just
couldn't be found by Redhat's "probe". I was stuck, until I brought my
system up under Win3.1 (using "System Commander") and then exited to DOS.
This kept my CDRom connected, from which I ran the "autoboot" program from
the Linux CD. Result: Install worked like a charm and afterword even booted
from scratch recognizing my Adaptec 1460 PCMCIA SCSI and mounted my CDRom.
Thanks goes out to John Kim. Your XF86Config file worked great.

That's about as far as I've progressed. I HAVE YET TO:
 - Successfully connect to my ISP, though I have successfully logged in
using minicom. I just can't access the connection. I think I still have
some network configuration to do. Sort of reminds me of my experiences with
W95. I still can't get my W95 applications to connect successfully after
dialup. I am using all 16bit net apps in W95 as workaround.
 - Successfully access my SCSI Zip drive.
 - Successfully mount my floppy.
 - Test my audio

This has been a fairly painless experience (and alot of fun). Useful
programs include Partition Magic, and as mentioned above, System Commander.
I am currently running 3.1, W95 and Linux from my local 720Mb drive.

If anyone has any suggestions or solutions to above issues, I'd welcome your
input. Thanks again to all those who have helped.
