New list member problem
Hi
I'm new to the list, and I have a problem that maybe someone can help me
out with.
My mom just got herself a used TP 701CS. I have been checking it out,
and it has worked fine for a week. However, the day she wrote up the bill
of sale (wouldn't you know it) after I plugged in the Multiport to it and
booted up, I removed the multiport, and it crashed. Now it will turn on,
the power light will come on, but nothing else happens. No beeps, no HD
activity,
nothing on the screen, no RAM check, nothing. Is this some sort of
protected mode? She didn't get a manual with it, and I know it has some
suspend modes that require passwords and such. Is this one of them?
Today, I phoned up IBM Canada and got someone who ran me through a few
simple steps (take out the battery, plug in the adapter, turn it on,
nothing.....hold the F1 key, turn it on, nothing....) and decided that they
would call it in and look at it since it is apparently still under
warranty. This is great, but I think that it is probably something simple
since it was working just fine up until then, and I'd rather fix it on this
end other than have it sent away for however how long.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Also, since I have never bought a new laptop before with loaded software,
is there a way to retrieve off the net or somewhere the original loaded
software? There were some good programs on the computer that the previous
owner deleted.
