If by bare drive you mean it doesn't have a cable, then the answer is yes,
the new cable replaces the original cable used with the TP701.

If by bare drive you mean the floppy innards are not in their housing, I
don't know what you'd do since the one I have doesn't appear to be designed
to open up.
