Help with rootdisk on TP 365X

Hi all,
I am using Slackware96 Linux 3.1.0
I am used Partition Magic to set up Free Space on my HD to load Linux
and
   I am having some problems.
I set up the Free Space as "unformatted", reboot and load the bootdisk,
type in "ramdisk floppy=thinkpad" , enter the rootdisk, press ENTER,
 and I get the error:
Kernel Panic: VFS : Unable to mount root fs on 02:1c
   I have tried "ramdisk floppy=thinkpad"
AND "ramdisk hd=788,32,63" at the LILO prompt, neither of which works.
   Any suggestions?
Can you enter ramdisk options twice?? (thinkpad and hd)
When I use ramdisk hd=788,32,63 it says:
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0, invalied compressed format
But when i type in ramdisk floppy=thinkpad, it says, "Java Binary
Support
   v1.01 for Linux 1.3.98:
VFS: Insert root floppy and press ENTER
Why do I have to enter the rootdisk twice??
Then I everntually get Kernel Panic:VFS:Unable to mount root fs on 02:1c

By the way, I am using bare.i for my bootdisk, and color.gz for my
   rootdisk.
 Thanks,
Dan Ascheman
